Celtic structure from 2,500 years ago discovered near Aschaffenburg

In March 2026, workers at a spillway reservoir project in Aschaffenburg discovered wooden elements dating back over two thousand years. Experts from the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection determined that the oak trees used in construction were felled between 372 and 352 BCE. According to specialists, the Celtic structure is exceptional across all of Germany for its age, construction technique, and excellent state of preservation. Its purpose remains unknown.
