NATO exercises near Iceland without US, Poland sends ORP Mewa

For the first time in a decade, no U.S. ships or aircraft participated in this year's NATO Northern Viking 2026 exercises near Iceland, Politico noted. The maneuvers focused on detecting Russian submarines. Poland took part in the exercises, deploying the minesweeper ORP Mewa among other vessels.
