Princeton AI controls fusion plasma faster than humans

Scientists at Princeton tested an artificial intelligence system able to monitor and control fusion plasma in milliseconds — far faster than a human operator. In one experiment, the AI predicted a dangerous instability about 200 milliseconds before it occurred and successfully prevented it. The results open new possibilities for safe control of fusion reactors.
