Scientists find weakness in glioma: SET protein blocks tumor growth
Researchers discovered that blocking the SET protein stops the formation of glioblastoma multiforme tumors in preclinical models. Targeting related proteins also increases sensitivity of cancer cells to radiotherapy by restoring activity of the PP2A enzyme, which glioma normally suppresses. The authors note that the method's effectiveness and safety require confirmation in human clinical trials.
