Mladic funeral in Belgrade without state officials
Thousands were expected Monday at the funeral of Ratko Mladic, convicted of genocide, in Belgrade — the ceremony proceeds without sitting politicians, artillery salutes, or military honor guard. The European Commission had warned earlier that any glorification of Mladic is "incompatible with the values upon which the path to the EU is built." Belgrade faces diplomatic pressure over organizing the funeral of a war criminal.
