Scientists study caterpillar hearing in an ultraquiet chamber

Researchers placed caterpillars in an ultraquiet anechoic chamber to examine how these insects detect sound despite having no ears. The findings may explain mechanisms for vibration detection by their bodies and help improve microphone design.
