ZUS contributions can be inherited: up to 44,000 zloty in sub-account

Funds accumulated in a ZUS sub-account are subject to inheritance and do not disappear upon the insured person's death — contrary to common belief. A sub-account can hold between 29,000 and 44,000 zloty. To recover the money, heirs must file a request with ZUS themselves.
