19 percent of Poles suffer from PTSD: twice the global average

Research indicates that 19 percent of adult Poles have suffered or suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, while the global average is 10 percent. According to researchers this is the result of historical trauma passed down through generations — wars, repression and dramatic experiences of ancestors. Journalist Katarzyna Janowska notes that Poles live in heightened tension and lose their temper easily.
