New definition of the second could be approved at October conference in Versailles

The General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) will meet on 13–15 October in Versailles to consider a proposal for a new definition of the second. According to Dr. Łukasz Olejnik, adopting the change would eliminate the need for time corrections for thousands of years. The new definition is expected to be based on more precise standards than the current one.
