Casimir the Great ordered a priest drowned for criticising his lifestyle

Priest Marcin Baryczka publicly rebuked Casimir the Great for his dissolute lifestyle. In revenge, the king ordered him dragged from prison at night, stuffed into a sack and drowned in the Vistula River below Wawel Castle. It remains one of the darkest crimes in Polish medieval history.
