Postnatal PTSD affects up to 1 in 20 women and is often mistaken for depression
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following childbirth affects up to 1 in 20 women, but it is rarely identified during routine check-ups or is misdiagnosed as postnatal depression. Researchers from the University of East Anglia warn that a lack of guidelines and insufficient training among GPs leaves thousands of mothers without appropriate support.
