Reaching 90 dementia-free still leaves significant risk, study finds

A study of people over 90 found that dementia risk remains substantial even for those who have stayed cognitively healthy into very old age. Women and Black participants faced notably higher risks, shaped by sex, race and genetics. Some individuals remained cognitively healthy despite carrying major risk factors, potentially offering clues to brain resilience mechanisms in extreme old age.
