USDA shelves cyclospora research, affecting tens of thousands sickened annually

The Trump administration is shuttering two of three USDA research projects studying cyclospora, a foodborne parasite that sickens tens of thousands of Americans each summer, Politico reported. Both defunded projects had their financing cut by Congress earlier this year. A third project is set to be relocated from Maryland to Iowa as part of a broader departmental reorganisation.
