Omega-3 and aspirin match antibiotics for severe gum disease treatment
A year-long study found that omega-3 fatty acids combined with low-dose aspirin were as effective as antibiotics for treating severe gum disease, with both approaches helping about 58% of patients reach the treatment goal. The unexpected finding could offer a new therapeutic route that reduces antibiotic use and helps combat growing antibiotic resistance.
