Xylitol linked to heart attacks and strokes in study of 17,000 people
A study involving 17,000 people found a correlation between high blood xylitol levels and a higher incidence of heart attacks and strokes. Xylitol is a popular sweetener found in many common food products. Researchers stress, however, that this is an observational study and does not yet prove a direct causal link.
