11,000-year-old stone rider unearthed at Karahan Tepe, near Göbekli Tepe
Archaeologists have unearthed a stone sculpture of a rider dating back approximately 11,000 years at Karahan Tepe, a prehistoric site near Göbekli Tepe in Turkey's "Stone Hills" region. The discovery surprises researchers and may reshape understanding of early Neolithic societies. It is among the oldest known depictions of a person riding an animal.
