Schools once feared calculators; now it's AI — and the answer is teaching what AI can't generate

Just as teachers protested against calculators four decades ago, schools are now grappling with fear of artificial intelligence. The author argues that as AI grows capable of producing texts, images and solutions on demand, education should focus on what cannot be generated: responsible human relationships and social-emotional skills, which he calls the most effective "hard technology" for navigating a changing world.
