Researchers Anima Anandkumar and Benedikt Jenik turned down an offer to co-develop a Jeff Bezos-backed AI project and instead built their own company. Their model is not designed for conversation but for predicting physical phenomena such as weather patterns and material behaviour. Reuters reports the scale of its computations is equivalent to reading "War and Peace" five million times.
