FDA pauses Regenxbio gene therapy trial again after spinal masses found in five patients
The FDA has again halted clinical trials of Regenxbio's gene therapy for children with mucopolysaccharidosis type II (Hunter syndrome) after small masses were found on the spines of five patients, none of whom had symptoms. The pause comes seven months after a boy treated with a similar MPS type I therapy developed a brain tumour — the first tumour conclusively linked to AAV gene therapy. Regenxbio announced the latest development on Monday.
