Etruscan ritual well with bronze statuettes and human remains found near Bologna

Archaeologists from the University of Bologna discovered a ritual well near ancient Etruscan city of Kainua, dating to the early fifth century B.C. At the bottom lay bronze statuettes and a unique bronze plate, likely placed as offerings to the mother-goddess Uni during a ceremony marking the city's founding. Human remains found in the well suggest they were part of a ritual "closing" ceremony, according to lead archaeologist Elisabetta Govi.
