Medieval skeleton found in Scotland bears 160+ fractures from English trebuchet in 1304 siege

A skeleton unearthed in Scotland with more than 160 fractures has been identified as likely belonging to a soldier killed during Edward I's 1304 siege of Stirling Castle. The injuries, which reminded the archaeologist of modern car crash victims, were caused by a high-speed projectile fired from an English trebuchet. The find is one of the rare archaeological examples documenting the lethal impact of medieval siege artillery on the human body.
