Environmental treaties overlook mental health — researchers call for change
Global environmental conventions on climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution have largely overlooked the psychological and social impacts on people, according to researchers writing in Nature. They call for mental health to be mainstreamed into international environmental policy. Among the neglected consequences they highlight are climate anxiety, trauma from natural disasters and the breakdown of social bonds caused by environmental degradation.
