Scientists find ancient gut bacteria and cold-loving yeasts on Ötzi the Iceman's 5,300-year-old body
Researchers studying Ötzi the Iceman's 5,300-year-old body have separated microbes that lived in him during his lifetime from those that arrived after his death. They uncovered traces of his original gut bacteria and cold-loving yeasts that may have survived alongside him in the glacier for millennia. The findings offer new insights into the microbiome of a Copper Age human.
