Heatwave limits coal plant output — Polish grid operator activates capacity market again

Overheated cooling water is curtailing the output of several Polish coal-fired power plants, creating a shortage of reserve capacity. Grid operator PSE has again activated the capacity market mechanism to restore reserves in the late afternoon and evening hours. Persistent high temperatures mean the situation continues to deteriorate.
