Aurora Therapeutics scraps CRISPR program after 7 months, undercut by Beam Therapeutics
Aurora Therapeutics, a startup focused on personalised CRISPR gene-editing drugs, has shut down its lead program and laid off staff just seven months after launching. The company appears to have been undercut by larger rival Beam Therapeutics, which announced its own set of custom gene editors targeting the exact same disease just one month after Aurora's launch. Aurora's chief scientific officer had already left the company earlier this year.
