Banks can legally demand a scanned ID by email, Poland's financial watchdog confirms

Poland's General Inspector of Financial Information (GIIF) has confirmed in a response to the Commissioner for Human Rights (RPO) that banks are legally entitled to request a scanned ID sent by email. The practice has caused concern among customers and the RPO despite modern digital identity verification methods being widely available.
