Two Michigan deaths linked to Cyclospora parasite traced to fast-food chain lettuce
Two people in Michigan have died after being infected with the Cyclospora cayetanensis parasite — the first confirmed deaths from cyclosporiasis in the United States. The outbreak has been linked to iceberg lettuce from central Mexico sold at popular fast-food chains. More than 11,000 people have fallen ill in the state since early May, with 193 hospitalised.
