Warsaw stops at "W Hour" to mark 82nd anniversary of the Uprising

On August 1 at 5 p.m., air-raid sirens sounded across Warsaw as residents paused to commemorate the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. The heroic revolt against the German occupiers began 82 years ago, on 1 August 1944. Commemorations took place at numerous memorial sites across the capital.
