Warsaw Uprising courier Helena Jamontt identified 7 years after body found under rubble
Helena Jamontt, a 30-year-old courier during the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, was killed in the second half of August 1944 on Miodowa Street. Her body lay buried under the rubble of a bombed-out building for seven years before being found. A small hair clip served as a key personal item linked to her identity. Her story is a reminder that the remains of Uprising victims continue to be discovered decades after the war.
