Spain wildfires top 170,000 ha burned — Sanchez lifts state of emergency in Avila

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez declared an end to the state of emergency in the provinces of Avila and Madrid after fires there were brought under control. Over 170,000 hectares have burned across Spain in total. Blazes have now shifted to the provinces of Zamora and Valencia, where firefighting efforts continue.
