Long-term road traffic noise may raise risk of Parkinson's disease, study finds

A Danish study tracking 3.1 million adults over 18 years found a modest but consistent correlation between long-term exposure to road traffic noise and the risk of developing Parkinson's disease. The findings suggest that disruptive environmental sounds may be a credible risk factor for the neurological disorder. The study indicates a statistical association but does not establish direct causation.
