Sugar in a baby's first 1,000 days raises lifetime Alzheimer's risk
Researchers at Guangzhou Medical University studied children born in Britain during and after World War II, when sugar rationing was in force. They found that limiting sugar intake during the first 1,000 days of life — from conception to around the second birthday — significantly reduces the lifetime risk of Alzheimer's disease. The findings suggest early-life sugar exposure programmes the brain's long-term vulnerability to dementia.
