Scientists Find Clue to Preventing Age-Related Muscle Loss

Researchers have identified a way to rejuvenate satellite cells — stem cells that surround skeletal muscle fibres and drive muscle regeneration — potentially halting age-related muscle atrophy. The findings come from a mouse study and have not yet been tested in humans, but muscle physiologist Matthew Krause of the University of Windsor called the results "really exciting stuff" with possible clinical applications.
