A single sauna session boosts white blood cell count, Finnish study finds

Finnish researchers found that a single 30-minute sauna session combined with a short cold shower increased every type of white blood cell in the bloodstream, including neutrophils and lymphocytes — key infection fighters. The results suggest that sauna heat briefly puts the immune system on higher alert. The study provides some of the first direct evidence for this immune-boosting effect.
