Why teens can't fall asleep early – it's biology, not laziness

During puberty, teenagers experience a natural shift in their circadian rhythm that pushes their sleep onset later into the night. Adolescents still need 8–10 hours of sleep per day, but early school start times clash with this biological clock, causing chronic sleep deprivation. Sleeping past 11pm and catching up on weekends is a physiological consequence of development, not laziness or excessive screen time.
