21-year-old Polish hiker dies falling in Slovak High Tatras
A 21-year-old Polish man died on Saturday 25 July in the Slovak High Tatras after falling into a ravine near a ridge section called Kogutek on Vysoká (2,547 m). The two Polish climbers had already decided to turn back before reaching the summit due to slippery rocks, but the tragedy occurred during the descent. Slovak mountain rescue service HZS confirmed the fatality, noting it is the latest in a series of fatal accidents involving Polish tourists on the Slovak side of the High Tatras in recent weeks.
