Storks at the dump: landfills alter migration and breeding habits of birds

White storks are increasingly foraging at open landfill sites, attracted by easily available, high-energy food waste. Experts warn that this dietary shift is already altering the birds' migration patterns and may have negative effects on their reproduction. Other bird species are also making use of the landfills.
