Jens Spahn resigns after it emerges he used a surrogate — banned in Germany
Jens Spahn, leader of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group and a close ally of Chancellor Friedrich Merz, has resigned from his parliamentary posts after it emerged he and his husband had a child via a surrogate mother — a practice banned in Germany. Spahn stated that his "personal happiness is incompatible with the political office" he held.
