Strawberries with cream and sugared bread — the holiday tastes of communist Poland

During the communist PRL era, summer treats were made from whatever was at hand — strawberries with cream, bread with water and sugar, or homemade preserves. The absence of elaborate sweets was no obstacle; simple food tasted of carefree summer days in the yard. These dishes still evoke nostalgia among several generations of Poles.
