CJEU: Mixed Supreme Court panels with neo-judges fail EU independence standards

The Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the EU has concluded that "mixed" Supreme Court panels that include neo-judges appointed by the politically compromised National Council of the Judiciary do not meet EU independence standards. On the same day, the CJEU issued two further rulings on the judicial independence test. The matter is central to Poland's ongoing rule-of-law dispute.
