Former East-West German border is now a biodiversity hotspot

The former border strip between East and West Germany, known as the "Green Belt," has become one of Germany's richest areas for biodiversity, sheltering many endangered species. Environment Minister Carsten Schneider recently visited the site. Decades of military isolation inadvertently protected the land from development, creating a unique ecological corridor.
