Cyclospora parasite in lettuce: over 6,000 US cases — safer food alternatives
More than 6,000 cases of Cyclospora infection have been reported across over 40 US states, linked to contaminated lettuce. The parasite causes severe diarrhoea and gastrointestinal illness. Health experts recommend switching to alternative leafy greens or vegetables that can be cooked, such as spinach or kale, to reduce risk.
