Cyclospora Outbreak Hits Michigan With 3,309 Cases; Leafy Greens at Taco Bell Suspected

Michigan has reported 3,309 cases of the diarrheal parasite Cyclospora as of July 14, compared to the state's usual roughly 50 cases per year, with 44 people hospitalised. Based on interviews with more than 1,000 of those sickened, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is pointing to leafy greens as the source. Taco Bell has come under scrutiny as a possible exposure site, with lettuce and salad greens as prime suspects in the outbreak.
