Michigan Diarrheal Parasite Outbreak Tops 1,200 Cases
Michigan is reporting 1,251 cases of a diarrheal parasite outbreak as of July 9, with 44 people hospitalised. The outbreak began with just two cases on June 22 and surged sharply in early July, hitting a single-day record of 239 new cases on July 8. The epicentre is in the southeastern corner of the state; neighbouring Ohio has also recorded over 500 cases, with numbers rising quickly.
