Watermelon, strawberries and grapefruit beat sweets as diet-friendly snacks
People watching their weight should reach for fruits high in water and fibre but low in calories, such as watermelon, strawberries, raspberries and grapefruit. These fruits contain little sugar, keep you full longer and work well as a replacement for sweet snacks, especially in hot weather. Apples do not top the list — more water-rich fruits do.
