Cyclosporiasis outbreaks hit the US — wash hands and produce to stay safe
Recent outbreaks of cyclosporiasis have been reported across the United States, caused by the intestinal parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis. University of Delaware food safety professor Kali Kniel advises thorough handwashing and washing raw produce before consumption as the main preventive measures. The illness causes diarrhoea, stomach cramps and fatigue.
