Turkey bars cruise ship with 2,000 LGBTQ+ passengers, citing 'moral values'
Turkish authorities in Kuşadası denied docking rights to Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady, which was carrying around 2,000 LGBTQ+ passengers on a cruise organised by US company Atlantis. Officials said the passengers' behaviour did not "align with the structure of our society and our moral values." Broadway star Patti LuPone, who was performing on board, expressed fury at the ban. The voyage had departed Athens on 5 July for a 10-day "all-gay" cruise.
