Damaged banknotes and coins can be exchanged at a bank under NBP rules
Under NBP regulation No. 31/2013, dated 17 December 2013, damaged or worn currency unfit for circulation must be exchanged at a bank rather than used for payment. A cashier is entitled to refuse damaged cash. Banks assess the degree of damage and carry out the exchange.
