Hyalomma tick detects hosts from a distance and actively chases them

The Hyalomma tick is unlike common ticks in that it can detect a potential host from a distance and actively pursue it. This hunting behaviour makes it significantly more dangerous than typical ticks that wait passively on vegetation. The species is present in Europe and can transmit serious diseases, including Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever.
