British teens in EU face steep UK university fees from 2028 due to Brexit rule change
British passport holders living in the EU currently qualify for "home fee" status at UK universities, but this ends in 2028 when the Brexit grace period expires. From then, affected students will pay international tuition fees — which can reach £38,000 a year compared to £9,250 for home students — and will lose access to student loans. The first cohort to be affected is starting A-levels this autumn.
